B.A.R.E. Birth Basics

The B.A.R.E. Birth Basics course is a unique and powerful way of learning about the birthing process. By combining top-down, brain-focused education with bottom-up, body-based practices, individuals are able to engage in childbirth with greater confidence and autonomy. Through meaningful exercises and activities, this approach gives parents the knowledge they need to make informed decisions during birth, while also helping them become more comfortable and attuned with their bodies.

The Basics of Bare Birth

Traditional childbirth classes generally focus on learning information about birth and adding in a bit of movement.  Bare Birth focuses on learning about birth through movement and adding in a bit of classroom education.

I encourage listening to your body and moving, modifying or resting when needed.  I also have a gentler Slow Flow that you can always opt for instead of the weekly flow.

If your pelvis is too affected by the pregnancy to move comfortably, this program might aggravate it.  If you are working with a PT and can do modified movements, then keep moving in a way that works for your body.

The program is designed for everyone to build skills pregnant & partner parents both. The movement flows are designed for a pregnant body to practice alone unless marked as a partner flow.  Partner learning & practice sessions can be skipped, and I love to talk about modifications to use without a partner present.

Each module includes a 20-25 minute movement flow based on the stage of labor we are learning about. There are also shorter movement sections learning about our birthing  bodies + opportunities to practice skills in every class.

I also recommend you continue flowing throughout the week before moving on to the next module, but how much you move weekly is up to you.

Yes, the more you move the more muscle memory you will have!  The goal is to build up these practices so they are accessible in your birthing brain.

Each week, we learn a new flow and I encourage that you move with it a few times before building up to the next flow. The whole goal of the program is to embody the movements so you can easily flow into them in labor.

If you are planning to birth in a hospital, then pain medication is usually an option.  The reality is that most people labor at home for hours using their own coping techniques until they head to the birth place, and then it could still be a wait until medication is available.

Even with an epidural, your baby still has to navigate your pelvis – learning techniques to facilitate birth & push more effectively are still beneficial.
