DIY Induction Methods
If you are nearing term, you are most likely feeling the heaviness of late pregnancy. Your baby may have dropped which places them deeper in the pelvis and makes it harder to move; you may have developed pregnancy swag when you walk. Your bladder may feel crushed and you are constantly in the bathroom. Your entire abdominal cavity is overcrowded and your body feels it!
Human babies are technically term from 37-42 weeks, but each baby has their own developmental timetable which is why we see variations. The last few weeks of pregnancy, your baby is doing really important work for survival; gaining weight, maturing their lungs and developing their suck.
I know the feeling of wanting to evict your baby when it gets overcrowded, but I encourage you to slow down and just go with the flow if you can. Mother Nature is preparing your for the slower pace of postpartum. Take this as a learning opportunity to begin to slow down and let go of unnecessary tasks; just a little preview of what life is like on the other side of this pregnancy.
If you want to give labor a little boost, the following things may or may not get things moving. These tools are less effective than medical methods, but they also carry less risk. Having an orgasm is usually preferable to a medical device! The benefits could be that labor actually begins or your body is now primed for a medical induction. Either way, pregnancy doesn’t last forever, promise!
